General presentation Opened in 1968, the IUT de Nîmes offers technical and professional training tailored to local and regional needs. A major socio-economic player in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, the institute has awarded over 20,000 diplomas since its opening. Overview Founded in 1978, the UFR STAPS is now one of the largest sports faculties in France (around 2,400 students, over 600 of whom are in their first year). One of the distinctive features of the UFR STAPS is that it has retained its sports specialties. As a result, every student has a dual specialization: professional and sporting.
